You definitely don’t have to have every user sign up with Adobe to have them authenticate – we need to do a better job documenting this, but check out the Developer Guide, Section 6.4 – all about how to authenticate users without AdobeIDs.

I’m not sure I understand your concerns about the pricing for user-hours. 2 users connected for 24 hours would cost $0.50 (plus any bandwidth and messages), and 10 users for one hour would cost $0.10. Is this too expensive?
